Adam Alba is a partner whose practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, intellectual property disputes, real property disputes, and defamation claims in state and federal courts.
Adam has been practicing as a trial attorney since graduating from law school, he has chaired more than twenty jury trials, and he has obtained favorable results for his clients through motions and settlements in several areas of the law. Some of his results include the following:
- 2023 – Successfully negotiated a $1 million settlement for his client, a minority shareholder of tech startup.
- 2022 – Successfully negotiated a $1.4 million settlement for his client in a complex property dispute.
- 2022 – Prevailed on a motion to dismiss claims of over $1 million against his client for lack of jurisdiction.
- 2021 – Represented a shareholder in a tech startup concerning the value of ownership interest and successfully negotiated a payout of over $3 million for his client.
- 2020 – Defended his client in a jury trial where plaintiffs sought more than $350,000; the jury returned a verdict of less than $18,000 for the plaintiffs.
- 2019 – Defended his client against a multi-million dollar trademark infringement claim and prevailed on a motion to dismiss all claims.
- 2014 – Prevailed on a motion for summary judgment in federal court dismissing all claims against his client in an employment discrimination suit.
Adam graduated from the University of Utah in 2006 with a degree in philosophy and received his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School in 2010 on a full scholarship. While in law school, he clerked in the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice and was a member of the Moot Court Board and the Journal for the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
Adam is active in the legal community. He has served on the boards of the Young Lawyers Division, the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Utah Minority Bar Association, and the Utah Supreme Court’s Advisory Committee on the Utah Rules of Evidence. He has been consistently recognized as one of Utah’s “Legal Elite” by Utah Business Magazine, and he has also been repeatedly selected as a Mountain States “Rising Star” and “Super Lawyer” by Super Lawyers. When he isn’t working, Adam likes to fiddle with the guitar, ride bikes, and hike with his family.
